Simon McWilliams takes a completely different  approach with this artwork of the Palm House, focusing on what is actually inside the building instead of the building itself. It seems to have taken the viewpoint from a lower angle, looking up towards the skylight with a tree standing tall in the very centre. This puts even more focus on what the Palm house actually is, a home to plant and tree species from all over the world. The mix of yellow, blue, and purple in the skylight reflect how the light is hitting into the building, with a more exaggerated approach to the colouring. There are hints of red in the foliage in the foreground, adding a pop of warm colour mixed into the cooler toned greens of t he small foliage. With the tree standing in the centre, the way the skylight is shaped it almost looks as if it is being surrounded, which could be viewed as the tree being protected. The foliage in the foreground helps the tree in the middle ground blend in before standing out against the skylight, putting an emphasis on the mix of manmade and natural materials.

Another piece by Simon McWilliams, this time of the outside of the Palm House. The building takes the majority of the canvas, with some trees just behind and a small area of flowers to the left at the front. I can tell where and how the light hits the glass building due to the areas of pure white, which strongly contrasts the black. What also stands out to me is the silhouettes of plants in black at the top of the dome, which is not shown in any other piece i have analysed, with an exception to Naomi Arbuthnot’s piece where the shading seems to mimic the rough shape of foliage. The white in the building helps create a strong contrast with the dark trees and grass surrounding it, and the light blues of the flowers on the left seem to blend in also. This creates that similar clash of manmade and natural materials mentioned in McWilliam’s piece analysed above.

Mark Seaton took a fully monochrome approach to his piece of the Palm House, using variations of green. The majority of the artwork is mixed darker greens, so with the palm house itself half bright almost white tones it grabs your attention. Although the Palm House building is situated almost centre, it is more in the background rather than the middle ground or foreground. The large bush and part of a tree covers the building, the bushes more detailed with lines to define the shape. There is a gradient of dark green to white across the section of the building closer to the foreground, which continues across to the section behind, adding more dimension to this piece.
